Anyone know the name of this font?
I'm trying to find this font but I have no idea what it's called or if it even exists out there for download.
It's the font that was used for "LOVE GUN" on the Kiss album...

It was also used in a magazine in the 70's...

Any help would be greatly appreciated!
Thanks

Re: Anyone know the name of this font?
Thanks tooquilos. Those are somewhat similar but not quite what I'm looking for. It seems to me like the fonts I posted are pretty much like the "Franklin Gothic Heavy" font but with a little shape at the top of the letters.
I pretty much need to duplicate that font exactly for something I'm working on so maybe if it's not available I could just modify the Franklin Gothic Heavy font somehow to look like that.

Thanks for your help though!

It's called Dynamo:

Incidentally, I tracked it down through What the font, which found it in an instant. Because it's a quirky face you have to tell it which letters are which, but frankly the power of that site is astonishing.

Good morning Les,
It's no problem now that Steve has found your font but if you had had to modify an existing font it's best to convert it to outlines and modify it from there; this converts your texts to a series of paths which you modify in the normal way that you would with any path. You can then manipulate the text in any way you like. Illustrator may be better than Photoshop for this purpose although Photoshop has come a long way in its text handling abilities over the years and will do the job.

If you want to use this 'new font' again at a later date you can find free font creation software (or pay for Typetool 3 and Scanfont; find them at the Fontlab website for $198 as a package) on the net. This allows you to save your paths as an actual font which you can then load into Photoshop or Word.

Gordon

Thats very useful info Gordon. I was only wondering earlier (when I replied to Les's question) how does one create their own text. You have answered my question!

Awesome! Thanks so much Steve! I've never heard of "what the font" before. Very, very cool site.

Thanks to you too Gordon. That info will come in very handy in the future.

Thanks folks!
