Opening JPEGs from Bridge
I use CS4 and cannot open JPEGs and TIFFs from Bridge. Any advice? |

You mean other than default PS? If so, try File (or right click), and select from dropdown menu -> either: Open With .. and select which tool you want from that dropdown menu (default is PS), or:Open In Camara RAW |

Re: Opening JPEGs from Bridge
Many thanks for replying. I have tried right-clicking and choosing 'Open in Camera Raw', but a notice comes up saying something about something having to be up first - I will try to copy the actual notice later today. |

Re: Opening JPEGs from Bridge
I have just been back to Bridge, selected a JPEG image, right clicked and selected 'Open in Camera Raw' and this is what came up! 'Camera Raw editing requires that a qualifying product has been launched at least once to enable this feature.' What does that mean? |

Re: Opening JPEGs from Bridge
I am not sure, but I think it maybe wants to confirm your licenc(s)e and activated for Camera RAW (ACR). So on this premise I suggest opening a RAW CR2 file first from Bridge, it will default to open in Camera RAW tool then. In ACR it will give option to open in PS afterwards, do that to complete the work flow from Bridge -> ACR -> PS. If that works, then go back to what discussed before for your jpeg/tiff image. |

I think you might need to restart afterwards to take effect across the tools. I have not had this problem. I see some discussions on the web for this problem, but more just for opeing RAW files. They suggest going from PS and open Bridge from there. |

Sounds as if you're using Bridge without already having Photoshop open. While Bridge can launch Photoshop successfully, it seems that on your system it's unwilling to do that. Do you use a Mac or PC? |

In Bridge click on edit/preferences/file associations. Scroll down the list and see what program it has as default to open it. It should say CS4. |

Re: Opening JPEGs from Bridge
Thanks everyone for your input. Steve, I am using a PC. The problem has been solved! I opened Photoshop as usual, then opened Bridge from Photoshop. I then opened a Raw Image, cancelled it, and then opened a JPEG image. Lo and behold, the JPEG promptly opened in ACR. I have tried it again, and it works. Hurrah!!! |

Great. Seems like those guys were right on www re: RAW and links to your issue. I think you should be linked now & "forever" on your machine For reference: "They suggest going from PS and open Bridge from there". |
