Perspective
Hi, I bought the how to cheat in ps CS5. I have read the chapters on perspective. I have ths project i would liko do to whereby i have the statue of liberty in the background on a beach (like the planet of the apes film with C.Heston) and I have kids on the beach... How does one build the vanishing point ? Obviously the statue is much much bigger than the person but i cant seem to get a realistic perspective it just looks odd in the pic.. i have not started on the creative bit like shading, colors, etc...where am i going wrong..`.. ![]() |

Re: Perspective
A very interesting puzzle! The vanishing point is, of course, on the horizon. Because the children are so far below it, this indicates we're standing on a higher point. I don't know if perspective lines will help much here, though, because there are no straight lines in the statue to align with them. I think this one might just have to be done by eye. Can you post the beach and the statue as two separate files? I'm sure there are several of us here who would like to have a go. Welcome to the forum! Steve |

Re: Perspective
Hello Steve and all, please find attached the files that I am using.. Just to give an idea in terms of proportions the statue of liberty from head to chin is 17' 3" or 5.26m take the average human head is say around 25cm so there is a tremendous difference...and this is the difference i want to somehow capture ... ![]() |

Re: Perspective
Hi aschiewe, The main problem is that the two photos are taken from a different viewpoint, you are looking down at the beach and up at the statue so the two images don't work together. I think it would be best to find a picture that is looking down at the statue and from a quick look on google there aren't very many about. Here is one that I found. rufus ![]() |

Re: Perspective
hi there, thank you for your comments..I get your point but since the statue is so big the viewer might me a couple of meters off the ground but the statue would still be over him if you see what I mean... I have attached worked in progress and i think I might be onto something... ![]() |

Re: Perspective
Yes, indeed. A good idea. Aschiewe, if that's OK with you, can we run this next week? |
