How do they do this
If you go this site http://www.christophehuet.com/ , you will notice a few compos with tramps that are part of the ground with some riplling effect around it. I am sure they changed the surface of the ground but its so realistic its crazy..I am sure there must be a fair of work involved in this... Any ideas on how they did this ? Andrew ps: By the way his stuff is amazing...the melting effect pictures hes got on there are eye boggling... |

Not sure how he does it but that is some truly amazing work. A few pieces of them I have seen before and always wondered what work went into them. The making of part as a video is very good, ill be going back to that site for inspiration when I can actually do good things on photoshop, just dreaming and looking at others' work for now though. |

Indeed - beautiful work. No real 'trick' to this, it's just painstakingly done. I think there might be a Friday Challenge in this, so thanks for bringing it to our attention! |

Re: How do they do this
There are four main problems here. 1. THe background has a strong blue tint, which doesn't match the people. Use Curves to add some red. 2. The people are very large compared to the sign - look at that yellow bollard just next to the poster, that should be around waist height. 3. Perspective, perspective! Move the man in the foreground up so his eyes are on the same line as everyone else, and it will all work much better. 4. Perspective again! The queue of people is receding at a strong perspective angle, but it doesn't match the angle of the buildings behind. You should be able to use Free Transform to straighten them up a little. One final thing... the man in the foreground is looking out of the scene. Flip him horizontally so he has some interest in what's going on! |

Hi there! I think (from my perspective) that you should try to keep the fonts more coerents each other... or to use the same font for every sentence at all. and you should also change the phone's reflection, the perspective (i think is wrong). I hope everything is clear because my english is really bad! cheers Alessandro |

Further to Andrew's post at the top I was intrigued and couldn't resist. Lots of refinements missing but one has to start somewhere. Ted ![]() |

Re: How do they do this
Hi Vicho, No Liquify tool here. In this example the girl in blue was cut out from the background and then masked out to the depth of the desired sinking effect. Then placed on the background. Ted ![]() |

Re: How do they do this
Hi Ted, i agree with your principle as i have tried it myself but its the little tweaking and slight ripple effect that is amazing...I have tried displacement maps, filters , dodge and burn...i cant seem to make it realistic like on the site...i might be missing one major element...TALENT...LOL... Re: How do they do this
It's a great challenge. ![]() I've seen the pictures and I've tried to do my best, working with dodge and burn tools, and making a reduced selection around the lying man, so it seems he's a little dug into the asphalt. I don´t believe that displacement maps helps here because the texture is so tiny and random that the displacemente wouldn't be obvious enough to worth the effort. Probably it's only a matter of patient drawing shadows and highlits over the floor, and erasing some parts of the body so as to create the illusion of volume on the ground waves. Here's my attempt: ![]() _________________ There are men who fight one day, and are good men. There are men who fight a year, and they are better. Re: How do they do this
No problem ![]() Yes, all the work has been made only with dogde, burn, and eraser tools indeed. I have attached a mask layer to the "body" layer in order to hide some parts of the body. Perhaps there is a thousand ways to do this, but this worked for me. I owe a Graphic Tablet Wacom, so it helps a lot on using brushes. ![]() _________________ There are men who fight one day, and are good men. There are men who fight a year, and they are better.
