layers
The accompanying screen dump illustrates the present position with this weeks challenge. I performed a routine Save As, and found myself with an unworkable layers pallet, if there is a way back I am unable to find it. An explanation, better still a remedy, or both, would be welcome. Is this a no way back scenario?

Re: layers
Hi James,
I try to figure what is that.I know you can make layers from frames and on right side its looks to me as frames layers(which are not editable like those layers you make every single frames cause the are just footage for gif ).Comming back to the standard layers and psd you used for this should fix things. But I wish I am 100% sure what I said to you.

Hello Tomasz,

I understand your comments, and appreciate your response. Recovering the PSD files is the desirable objective, but I’m driven to conclude that these must have been destroyed. Thank you for your interest.

Well, sorry. But if you go to 'save for web' with this what you got on screen this will produce gif file as well...or you already did it.hope to see it working in FCh,James.

Re: layers
James,

As per another side related discussion (Vebike?/others). If you see it go wrong, immediately press CTRL/CMD-Z.
Other option maybe use history and step back. [b]Once you leave PS session you have no chance to go back (according to my understanding and was the topic of side discussion)

Either way it should not have done that.

I'm not sure this will work though in your case? I normally keep saving versions, so can step back, albeit with such pi*ssed-offness to repeat.

Sorry can't really help on this more than comments above.

Trevor

Re: layers
Looks to me as if you've exported the animation to layers, which is an option in the Animation panel. Could you have hit a keyboard shortcut for this by accident? Or assigned one to it?

One thing occurs to me: is there any chance that you've inadvertently opened a .gif rather than the .psd version of the file here? Could the original still be lurking somewhere on your hard disk?

If you had that shiny new iMac we looked at, of course, with your external hard disk hooked up, you could have gone back to yesterday in Time Machine and retrieved that version...

Trevor,

I do normally make copies of my work as I go along so that I can step back, this time I didn’t, and Murphy’s Law (Sods Law) kicked in. Cheer’s, and thanks

Steve,

One of your two explanations is probably correct. I was looking to astound the family (Mine) when Murphy stepped in. I shall have to take greater care. One of those shinny objects has found its way into my den, but is proving a little antisocial; I’m trying hard not to reach for the hammer.
