Chapter 7
Pg 188 - Bevel and Texture - #1: I follow directions to the letter (I think), and I end up with a white ground with the objects on it. Don't know how to get to the beveled base. Wahhhhhh! Help please?!? Joey |

Re: Chapter 7
Joey, If you you see the shapes and not the base, try inverting the layer mask (Ctrl I). This should work. Luis |

Re: Chapter 7
That would be 100% PS........and I have PS 7. Tried it, Luis - and it worked as far as the base goes - but still no bevel.........I'm starting over again - and again - and again....... If I'm learning anything, it's that eventually it works out (with a little help from you all). Have no doubts - if it doesn't work, I'll be back begging for more help! Joey |

Re: Chapter 7
Can you post a screen grab of your work area and your layers so we can see where you are going wrong? Luis |

If you are using windows, you can press the print screen button. this will copy what ever is on screen, then in photoshop create a new document and press ctrl v to paste. luis |

Re: Chapter 7
Okey dokey..........I didn't know the "print screen" button was on my keyboard. My local tech friend pointed that out to me. He thinks I'm pretty not-too-smart when it comes to technical stuff.........Joey ![]() |

Re: Chapter 7
OK. It looks like there is nothing on the layer mask. Select the layer mask thumbnail and fill this with white. You will know if the layer mask thumbnail is selected when the brush shape next to the eyeball changes to a circle. Now, select all the shape and make sure you have the layer mask thumbnail selected. Then fill in the selection with black. |

Re: Chapter 7
Hi Luis - took your advice, but still no bevel effect - THEN (why, I don't know) I dd Select>Inverse and it worked like a charm. Nearly fell off my chair! Somewhere along the way I usually miss something - thankfully it is most often resolved. Thanks for the help. Joey |
