Path segment
Hello,

How do you delete a path segment in a closed
path so that it becomes an open path?
This means that none of the anchor points are
moved or deleted.
Is it possible?

Thanks,
Martti

Re: Path segment
In Photoshop you can't select a piece of the path itself. But what you can do is to use the Pen tool: when you move it over a potion of a selected path, it will change to show a little + in the icon, indicating that it's going to add a new point.

Click to add a new point on the segment you don’t want, then simply hit Delete to remove it - and this will open the path for you.

Re: Path segment
Steve,

I'm impressed by your advice - thank you.
I have struggled with PS a number of years by
now and can swear that nowhere in the books
have I ever seen this trick.
Do you know of any comprehensive summary about
the inner workings and tips and tricks on the
pen tool?
Or why not write a book on the subject and I will be
the first one to buy it.

Ha! Well, as it happens, I am working on a new series - and that's a very good idea for one of the titles!
