Just getting started
I'm the reader who is starting at the beginning and working their way diligently through to the end. I have made it to page 93 (6th ed) and have managed to find the answers to most of my questions. Here are a couple that have me stumped. From Putting Pen into Practice p. 24 (video tutorial): You mention putting on a transparent overlay to see the pen outline better. What exactly is that? Lowering the layer transparency? From Major Color Changes p. 92, step 2: You say the path is already made and can be loaded up as a selection. How is this done. Also, there is a "Case Study" icon to the side. What does it mean? |

Hi, Second;Go to PATH, find icon there,ctrl+ click on- will load this shape up First; blending in overlay or lowering transparency wold do or ...i dont know.  |

I've placed a transparent overlay over the image so we can see the path better in the book. This is simply a layer filled with white, set to an opacity of around 50%. I'm not suggesting you do this: it's just there so the path stands out in print. The "Case Study" icon means this is an explanation of a real commercial job that I've done for a magazine or newspaper. There are several of these in the book. They're there to show you that not all of this stuff is just flight of fancy! Also, they indicate that there may not be source files for these images, due to rights clearance. Welcome to the forum! Thanks Steve. I noticed when I did the exercise from the book it was very hard to see the path. When I saw the video, the transparent layer seemed to make it much easier. I assume it will work the same if I do use the extra layer. Looking forward to the next 10 chapters! |
