Removing downloads
A recent download (OpenGL Extensions) appears to be the source of some problems. I would like to remove it from the computer (iMAC) but can find no indication of the means by which this can be achieved. Can someone fill the void please.

I am led to believe OpenGL is part of the Mac package? If this be so it could explain the problems.

Re: Removing downloads
OpenGL is the system used to allow third party developers to access the iMac's graphics capabilities. I don't think you can remove it entirely.

Why do you think this is the issue? What are the problems you're experiencing?

Thank you for responding. .I have resolved the issues which were bothering me except for one. When I open the Photoshop window, it appears to be transparent, the Desktop is clearly visible in the background, although it doesn't interfere with my working, it is a trifle disconcerting. This surely cannot be right. Or is it a peculiarity of the Mac system? This is probably a trifling issue, I offer my apologies.

Re: Removing downloads
Hello James
I hope you are getting used to your new iMac.
When you say the window is transparent do you just mean that you can see the background around the 'window' (as I can, as indicated by pink arrows in screenshot) or is it more than that?

Re: Removing downloads
Hello Deborah,
I take it your background is a screen saver (which I don't use) Over to the left, alongside the tool bar, are a number of icons which I assume to be on the desktop, and this is what I am re-ferring to. It would appear to be a feature of the Mac system that has to be accepted. The PC is beginning to look more attractive. At the moment I'm not a very happy bunny. Your reply has clarified the issue, and you have my thanks. Be well..

James

Re: Removing downloads
There are two possible solutions here (although a screen shot of your desktop would help so I can be sure).

If the menu bar is translucent, so you can see texture through it, this can be fixed using the check box at the bottom of System Preferences > Desktop and Screen Saver.

If you mean that you can see the icons on the desktop when working in Photoshop, and would prefer not to, then in Photoshop use Window > Application Frame. This will put the whole Photoshop interface inside a grey box (which you can scale from the bottom right corner, as usual, if you don't want it to fill the whole screen).

Re: Removing downloads
I know exactly what you mean, I have the same problem on my laptop, but not on my desktop.
Once you have opened an image, you can change the screen mode and it's OK, annoying but it works, I can't figure out how to fix it.

Re: Removing downloads
Thank you Steve, the second option has done the trick. You are a fine tutor.

Vibeke, perhaps that be of interest to you.

Re: Removing downloads
Thanks James and Steve, that seems to have done the trick, it was really annoying me. I had compared all the settings (I thought) with my desktop computer.
