CS3 help
I have not progressed further than PS 7 but a friend of mine works with CS3. I was trying to show him how to crop using the square selection tool but it seemed to be stuck on additional selection plus I couldn't drag the selection about. Also I couldn't click it off - if I wanted to get rid of it I had to click with the lassoo tool. Is this normal? What a palaver! _________________ I'm not really bad - I just draw that way |

Re: CS3 help
Hi Josephine, Select the marquee tool. top left of the screen you will see which marquee tool is selected. To the right of that box are four other boxes. You want the left hand box to be selected as that is a single selection. It sounds like you have the second box selected which is 'Add to selection'. box 3 is 'Subtract from selection' and 4 is 'Intersect with selection'. Re: CS3 help
There doesn't seem to be any reason why he shouldn't be able to do this. However, I have just noticed that with "Add to selection" selected my cursor disappears until it is outside the bounds of the document. This makes it impossible to use it as intended. It doesn't do that with the other buttons. Very strange behaviour. Failing the above he can always go to Select>Transform Selection to move it around. _________________ You're never too old to learn something stupid. |

Re: CS3 help
Hi Gordon, Really, with "add to selection" the cursor turns to ++ (when inside ) and an arrow (as usual), when outside the bounds of the document. Now if you press Alt, it turns to + - (if you release the Alt it turns again to your normal cursor), if you maintain Alt pressed, you subtract the area you want from the selection. Instead, if you hit Ctrl, it turns to an arrow and scissors, so if you maintain Ctrl pressed and left clic (pressed too), you can move the selection. Would be this the problem ? ![]() |

Re: CS3 help
Hi Paulo, No, I think it must be something to do with my MAC laptop setup as it works perfectly well on my other MACs. I have only just, today, discovered this after all these years of Photoshopping as I normally use keyboard shortcuts to add or subtract from selections.
