Re: filters
Not sure.I think it may do with coping new filter files into filters's PS folder in Program Files or intstalling them like a plug-ins.

Re: filters
Yes agree with Tomasz

A dirty way to do it is to copy the filter plugin file to the photoshop directory i.e. ..Program Files\Adobe\Adobe Photoshop CS5 (64 Bit)\Plug-ins\Filters . That's the directory structure from a Windows perspective ".." being location of Program Files, but should similar for Mac, and for other versions of PS will need to chose directory name corresponding to that rather than Adobe Photoshop CS5 (64 Bit)

Re: filters
When you get new filters, they'll almost always have an installer that places them within your version of Photoshop.

In fact, you can locate them anywhere on your hard drive. I keep a separate folder for Photoshop filters, so that when I update Photoshop I don't have to reinstall everything.

In the Preferences, you can set which plug-ins folder you want to use. All the filters in that folder will be loaded next time you start Photoshop.

Re: filters
Thank you gentlemen. The particular filter ( eraser classic ) is installed in Photoshop on my PC, and works well. However when I attempt to load it on the Mac, I am told the file type is not recognized by Photoshop. Strange.

Re: filters
Mac and PC filters aren't usually compatible, so you'd need to download the Mac version specifically - assuming it's still available, and that it's configured to work in 64-bit (most older filters aren't).

Re: filters
Thank you Steve,

I find the originator designed his filters to work only with PCs, he professes to know nothing of MACs. End of story. I need look for an alternative. Seek and be rewarded ( What joker uttered those words ) Grrrr
