Not so smooth graphics
I need to create some new text graphics for a website but have a problem.

I created a new file with a transparent background and added a single text layer. Saved as an 8bit png file. The resultant image has artifacts around the edges, see here a good image and underneath to problem image: http://www.stevecain.co.uk/testpage.htm

Has anyone any tips on how to create smooth graphics?

Thanks,

Steve

Interesting. That shouldn't happen with a PNG file. I'll do some tests.

In the meantime, you might try saving it as a GIF with transparency instead, which might give better results.

I think the problem comes from saving it as an 8-bit PNG. Try saving it as 24-bit, and you should find the white ghosting disappears.

That seems to have done the trick Steve, didn't think to save as 24 bit. Many thanks for your help.
