Rotating lettering
This is a new poster for the theatre. If you look at the title, is there a way of rotating that W on "narrow" whilst still keeping it as editable text? I can warp it and all sorts - just can't seem to rotate it? Cheers Chris ![]() |

Re: Rotating lettering
Hi Chris, That is weird, I just had a play with editable text and I just went to Transform and Rotate. It was fine. |

Re: Rotating lettering
Why not just have the 'W' as a separate text layer and then you can move it around and distort it as you see fit. Perhaps have it as a Smart Object ? Would that do it? _________________ You do not need a parachute to skydive. You only need a parachute to skydive twice. |

Re: Rotating lettering
Yes I could do that, just thought it seemed strange that you can't do it on the same text layer. |

Re: Rotating lettering
Hi Deborah I have tried this - I hilighted the W but it will only rotate the whole word. Can you tell me how you did it? |

Re: Rotating lettering
My apologies Chris, I'd presumed you had put the 'W' on a separate layer - which is what I did. I don't think you can distort just one letter in a text layer. Someone shoot me down in flames please. |

Re: Rotating lettering
With pleasure Deborah - I thought it was me! Seems a bit of an oversight by PS? |

Re: Rotating lettering
If this text layer is rasterized , just select 'W' with square tool and transform. You can make it on same layer. |

Re: Rotating lettering
I can't think of a single graphics application that allows you to rotate individual letters. Why would you normally want to do this? |

Re: Rotating lettering
Wherever possible, I like to keep the type in editable type format for two reasons: A so I can check the font name if I want to use it again and B so I can change the font later if I change my mind. Also, by not rasterising it, I keep the number of layers to a minimum. Does that make sense... or maybe it's me! |

Re: Rotating lettering
Of course, that makes sense. But if you simply make that final W a separate text layer, you can achieve all those things - and still rotate it. |
