adjust the brush size showing in quick mask color
I saw the video of "How to cheat in Photoshop". The author is adjusting the brush size, but is able to temporarily showing it in quick mask color. What is the way to do that? Thanks! |

Re: adjust the brush size showing in quick mask color
This is a feature that was introduced in Photoshop CS4. Hold Ctrl + Alt (Mac) or Alt + Right Click (Windows) and drag to change the brush size. In CS5, you can drag up and down to change hardness, and left and right to change size. |

Re: adjust the brush size showing in quick mask color
Thanks Steve, Just tried it. The size feature is useful, although I tend to use the [ & ] keys. However, with the feather, there does not seem to be any preview, so it's difficult to see what effect dragging up and down has, until you actually apply the brush. Am I missing something? Nick |

Re: adjust the brush size showing in quick mask color
You should be able to see the softness of the brush changing as you drag - the red overlay will show exactly the brush size and softness. |

I just get an empty circle with no overlay until I paint? I'm holding ALT and right clicking. |

Hmm. That's odd. I'll see if I can figure that one out. |

Re: adjust the brush size showing in quick mask color
Thanks Steve. This CS5 features work for me on my latest PC. Very useful! Nick, on my other PC I had some issues with new GPU OpenGL features being used in CS4 and CS5 not working. I got around these by downloading and installing updated version of the driver for my graphics card. The new version was updated to support the later OpenGL features which were not supported in older version. If not tried already, you might try. Update should be free from manufacture. |

Thanks Trevor Coincidentally, there was an update to the graphics card within the update section only this week, which I installed. I've just tried the QM again and it works, so you're officially a genius now!. Thanks. Nick |
