QuickMask 2 in How to cheat in CS5, p. 10
When I create the quick mask as described here & in step 7 press Q, the entire picture has marching ants around it as well as the bee I had masked. When I press ctrl-J to make a new layer from the selection, I get everything except the bee. To get the bee on the new layer I have to first invert the selection. ![]() How did do I keep the area outside the bee from get selected? Thanks! |

Hi and welcome If you double click on the QM icon, PS will give you an option, where the colour is either to have masked, or selected areas. Choose Selected and the area you paint will be the selection. Nick |

Hi Leslie, If you double click on the quick mask selection icons at the bottom of the tool box you can choose whether colour indicates the masked area or the selected area. You can also change the colour of the quickmask if you wish by clicking on the coloured square. Hope this helps.
