Need help with bug eyes
Too much "white" showing in these eyes making them look like bug eyes. I'd like to pull up the lower lid a little and close the gap of white. Can anyone suggest a simple fix? Nothing too complicated like replacing the eyes with another set of eyes. And, if possible list the steps you took. Thanks. |

Re: Need help with bug eyes
Hi There MissDonnaLee, I have made two different adjustments to your image. ![]() On the top is your original image. GREY DOWN METHOD (Bottom left): I have taken the original image, selected the whites of the eyes (I used QuickMask selection but you could use lasso tool, pen tool etc. to make selection) then made a levels adjustment layer and reduced the output white level from 255 to 240. This greys down the eyes a little and gives the impression that they are smaller. By creating the adjutment layer after selection only the selected areas are adjusted as the adjustment layer creates a mask. LIQUIFY METHOD (Bottom Right): Copied the original image layer and then selected the liquify filter. Using the forward warp tool use a large brush (around 80 pixels) with low pressure (around 20) click and push gently upwards very slightly from the cheek below each eye. This will subtly warp the image and close up the eye. Having said all of the above I didn't think the original image was really that buggy! I rather agree with Vern, I don't think the eyes are at all 'buggy'. Audrey Hepburn and Audrey Tautou both have gorgeous big eyes and I could stare helplessly at them all day long. Maybe it's just a man thing ![]() _________________ Only one shopping day left until tomorrow! |

Hi, I though I'd give this a quick go too! it's probably easier working at as high res as possible. As Vern says use the Liquify tool, and a little Blur>Smudge tool. Experiment with different size brushes in Liquify so as not to distort or blur the original too much. Liquify is in the Filter toolbar. Good Luck! ![]() ![]() _________________ “Art Is Never Finished, Only Abandoned.” |

I have to agree with vern. The eyes are always the heart of a portrait and the vast majority of retouchers will enlarge them using a technique called 'Hollywood Eyes', where they are increased by say 5% and blended using a mask. Your subject has fantastic eyes and I would leave well alone. Just my opinion though. Nick |

You think her eyes are ok in this portrait after all? Thanks, all, for working with the photo. Which tool in liquify are you using? I know there's a bloat tool but is there one that does the opposite? A shrink tool...lol? |

Re: Need help with bug eyes
Also, I was not able to upload the high res image...the file is too large. I had to REALLY size it down to post it here. |

Re: Need help with bug eyes
The opposite of bloat tool is the pucker tool but you will get more controlled results by using the forward warp tool with a large radius brush and low pressure setting. _________________ "Why so serious?" |
