CS6 Crashing
Has anyone else had problems with CS6 crashing particularly in 3D -- for this weeks Friday challenge I made my entry in part using 3d and experienced "many" crashes almost to the point of wanting to give up. I am running a new computer with 16 GB RAM ,new powerful video card so am wondering if this is a beta bug?

Re: CS6 Crashing
It's working fine for me, Frank - but it is still in beta, so could be a bug. I suggest you log it as a bug on the Adobe site so they'll still have time to do something about it!

Re: CS6 Crashing
Thanks Steve -- wondering why it would work for you and not me? All beta issues should be the same I would think.

Re: CS6 Crashing
Frank,
Maybe I missed this, but are you running on PC or Mac?
Not very helpful either-way I think, but when I had PC with just 2Gb using 3D, it used to crash frequently, but was ok after got 4Gb and later Windows version. But this is not your problem I think as you have loads of memory.
I'm running Beta on Mac at the moment, but not stretched 3D stuff, bit busy
CS6 beta has not crashed on me though.
Trevor
PS. Again not very useful comment sorry.

If you are running Windows 7, try changing the theme to non Aero. I had the same issues with Vanishing point, which resulted in a white screen and PS falling over.

Re: CS6 Crashing
Good news Frank
It's not your machine. I did some forum reading on this and there is something with the Aero, which conflicts with some of the functions in PS. I run a quad core machine with bags of processing ability and had the same issues.

Re: CS6 Crashing
I'm sure I'd be able to offer some wise advice at this point, if I knew what Aero was. All it means to me is a chocolate bar (and very nice it is too).

Re: CS6 Crashing
Wow Nick, I haven't had problems with Photoshop but when using some other 3d software I've had constant white screens and things disappearing off the screen to the point of barely being able to use the program. Just tried your Aero fix and everything seems to work properly again!, I would never have guessed, thanks!

Oh and Steve I like the mint ones ..

Re: CS6 Crashing
So glad I could help.

A friend of mine once gave me a great tip - Google it. It's amazing how many forums there are out there where people place solutions to issues. My daughter had Monopoly Junior and we just couldn't load it on her Windows 7 PC. I found a forum and discovered the game is not compatible and there is no fix. I did the same for PS and up popped the Aero answer.

Re: CS6 Crashing
Hi Nick -- I still had some crashes on non Aero -- as I said I just bought this new machine - nevertheless to my surprise AMD sent me an auto notice early this morniing that my drivers have been updated so I downloaded the new version dated April 06 and so far so good - on their site I found an article saying they have been working with Adobe re this new Mercury Graphics, etc ( whatever that is ) so hopefully this issue will be put to rest -- although I'll still be walking on eggshells for awhile. Thanks for your help
Frank
P.S. I plan to try both aero and non aero to see what happens ???
