Getting started with a tablet
OK, I have taken the plunge and got myself a Wacom Intuos3 A6 tablet to have more control over 'painting' on layers etc. I hope I have done the right thing (gulp!), and I realise there is much to learn. I plan to work through that learning with the Friday challenges and then apply this to my hobby, astrophotography. My question is- where do I start? Are there any good online tutorials to follow? How long will it take me to get the rudiments? Many thanks for any encouragement and advice you can all offer ![]() |

Just use it, the first few days it will feel awkward. I don't ever turn my mouse on except if somebody else is using my computer. Good Luck _________________ Perfect confidence is granted to the less talented as a consolation prize. |

I absolutely agree with what Vibeke has said. The best way to learn is to use it. If you bought this new in Europe, you'll find it comes with a DVD of tutorial videos showing how to get the most out of it with a variety of different applications. The Photoshop tutorials are, ahem, recorded by me. |

Re: Getting started with a tablet
I use a light mouse (no batteries) to work in all my applications including Photoshop. When I'm in QuickMask/SelectionMode or Lasso and Dodge & Burne, than I use my Wacom tablet. When I use Photoshop's Pentool for instance, I often turn to my mouse again, finding this imput tool steadier than the Wacom pen. So, in general only when I'm 'painting' I use my Bamboo. |

I agree with Sjef. When I use pen I use mouse for precision, but probably my lack of my precision control with tablet. Steve does it very well! I'll always mostly paint with tablet for all other applications |
