just read through a perspective lesson in HTCIPCS4, the stacking boxes one. Then i snapped a photo of a can want to practice stacking the can in perspective. I'm running into problems with the can being a cylinder. any tips on how to stack cans in photoshop? in perspective? i attached a shot of the can in question

Re: stacking cans...
well, i went around and messed with free transform warp and then had to tweak the perspective afterwards. removed the lid, etc.

anyone have any better ideas?

Re: stacking cans...
I think Warp is the only way to do it, Steve.

But here's a tip: convert the can into a Smart Object before warping it. That way, when you duplicate it to make another can, the warp handles will already be in place.

While you're in Image Warp mode, you can switch between it and regular Free Transform without committing the operation, so you can warp a little, then do a bit of perspective, then warp some more as you need.

Show us your results!

Re: stacking cans...
thanks Steve. I don't have a lot of experience with Smart Objects yet. I ll read up on the details and then go ahead with your technique. I made something, it looked pretty good, but I'll try that way, too.

Thanks for your quick reply.

That's really close! You may, of course, have set yourself something of an impossible task here.

Re: stacking cans...
Glad to hear that, Steve!

Just been having a go at this myself, by the way. It really is very difficult, by which I mean I'm not convinced it's possible. Your version is very close!
