Wrong dialog for Page 22-23?
Hi, I am working through the first couple of chapters for the seventh edition of How to Cheat in PS 6...but I think the dialog box for step 4 on page 22 is for CS5? I don't see those little icons on the bottom of my Refine Edge dialog box... How do you proceed from here if those options are not available. Thanks! |

Re: Wrong dialog for Page 22-23?
I too have the same problem. I have CS5 and CS6 and both give me a completely different dialog box. Was this an error in the book, or is there another "Refine Edge" box hiding somewhere? Is the "on black" or "white on black" selection the Alpha channel? I have been able to get the effect by inverting the rounded selection and then deleting the area outside the selection. Then I fill the background layer. Filling the layer with the text on it gives little white corners, so fill another blank layer or the background layer. |

Hi. That Refine Edge dialog box is from CS3 as shown on the right hand edge of the page. To find the different ways of viewing your text, just click on the drop down box in View (see attached screenshot). Howard, while you have the marching ants, do what it says in step 9 and make a new layer, then fill with your foreground colour. Hide the text layer. You will then have no need to do your workaround. ![]() |
