Stroke Question?
I have an image with a stroke applied. I would like to be able to adjust the opacity of the stroked image without effecting the opacity of the stroke. How is this done? Thanks! |

Re: Stroke Question?
Well not sure this helps.. a) I think this misses the point: I'd create a new layer. The opacity etc is dependent on the brush you have selected. Set the opacity, size and blending modes on that brush. Then stroke. Its on a new layer! You can change blending modes etc on that. You have lost nothing if you save the path as a new name. Can try again and again with another new layer if not happy. b) Maybe this what you want: If you don't want to effect the stroked layer just the image, (which I think is your question) with CS4 or CS5 I'd Group all your layers of the image you want by themselves, not the stroked layer. : Actually its a bit simpler than this. Use the Clipping mask option on all the adjustments you want to apply on the image layers you want (excluding stroked path layer I guess). The adjustments need to be above the layer or layer group you want to apply them to (not the stroked layer). Its very quick ![]() : If you keep your stroked path layer above all those adjustments it will not effect it. It floats there out of the sea of the other layers and adjustments ![]() ![]() Well as I said, not sure this helps, not very explicit sorry, but if you need more details, I might be able to help apart from travel again soon. There are others here too of course. BTW you can get these effects to work in PS7 and later, just takes longer than CS4 or CS5.... and names I've given different ... |

Re: Stroke Question?
Hi John, Just stroke your image and then on that layer go to 'Fill' rather than 'Opacity'. This will affect just the image and not the stroke. Gordon _________________ If at first you don't succeed then skydiving is not for you. |

Re: Stroke Question?
Hey John, GKB is talking about a stroke applied in the FX-effects, and he is right of course. If you want to apply a 'normal' stroke this methode doesn't work. Best thing to do is than to set an empty layer above the image, select the image and apply the stroke on the empty layer (Edit»Stroke). Now you can edit the stroke at it's own (for instance with an FX-effect). |
