clone tool
Hello: every time I want to clone anything from a different layer that could be immediately below, above or may be 3 layers above or below, it will not clone anything, so what I usually do is to save the whole work as a .jpg and bring it back again as jpg and clone the part I need. What am I doing wrong, I am sure there is a better way to do this. Thank you so much for your help,

Re: clone tool
Hi Emy,

Not sure which version of Photoshop you are using but in CS2, when you select the Clone Tool you will see a tick box inviting you to 'Sample All Layers'. In CS5 you get a box that allows you to use either 'Current Layer', 'Current Layer and Below and 'All Layers'.

Other versions of Photoshop may have a variation on the theme.

Hope that works.

Gordon

Re: clone tool
Hi Emy
Create a new layer above the layer you want to clone and set as Gordon suggests. If you want to save the file, then save as a TIFF file as this is non compressed and will preserve quality.

Re: clone tool
Hi Emy. Have you tried this: Create new layer, then (top toolbar) Image>apply image. This creates a flattened image of whatever is visible, while still preserving all your layers.
You probably know that already! but I was using Photoshop for a couple of years before I knew that

Well I didn't know that! One more thing to add to the list of 'Things I don't know about Photoshop'!

Thanks, Artwell

So much I don't know, that's probably easier than
