Help with texture
Hi, would anybody have any tips on how to recreate the following texture? I need it to look as convincing as possible and without using anything other than photoshop tools. The colour gradient isn't a problem, but the vertical and horizontal lines are becoming a headache. I've tried smudging, stretching and liquifying but the results aren't realistic enough, surely there is an easier way ? ![]() Thanks. ![]() |

I had a quick go at this..set your gradient to Difference and keep creating gradients till you feel you have achieved the desired result. This should give you the vertical lines. Then copy the layer and rotate it to create the horizontals. Play around with the opacity and blending modes. It seems to me that the Craquelelure or Sandstone filters may of been applied too. _________________ Dorothy: "there's no place like home!" |

Re: Help with texture
I had a go at this and this is what I came up with. please note that I was using photoshop cs2. Step 1: for your first layer, create your gradient. Step 2: next layer is a pattern fill layer. The pattern used is called bark and I think it is in the texter fill 2. Once you find this, scale the pattern to a high number. just find the one you like. once done, rasterize this layer, then add a vertical motion blur. change the blend mode for this layer to soft light and lower the fill to something like 40%. Step 3: repeat step 2 for the third layer but rotate this layer to horizontal and use a motion blur set to horizontal. change the blend mode to hard mix and lower the fill to 11% Step 4: merge all layers if you want. What I did was created a 50% grey layer and change the blend mode to hard light. Then I added noise and a spatter filters. I hope this helps some. Luis ![]() |
