Lasso/Alt

Ok , so , click L to activate Lasso Tool , hit Alt , Lasso will shift to Polygonal , right ? ... Well , not for me !
The key itself is functioning fine with other "shortcuts" - Dupe image , corner stop w/pen tool etc - but when it comes to switching Lasso , absolutely nothing happens .... where am I going wrong ? ... or am I ?

Re: Lasso/Alt
Hold Shift+L ? Stating the obvious but have you gone to Edit>Keyboard shortcuts>Tools to see what's up?

Although, saying that, I had similar problems once where my shortcut 'R' failed to work with the Smudge tool..hmm

Re: Lasso/Alt
When you hold Alt the Lasso won't actually change tool, but it will behave as if it's the Polygonal Lasso. Which means that while you're holding Alt you should be able to click, release the mouse button, and click elsewhere to draw a straight line.

Artwel, the shortcut R was moved from Smudge to Rotate Canvas a few versions ago. You can change it back in the Keyboard Shortcuts preferences.

Aha.. It worked ... Trick : let go of the mouse first .

Thanx Steve

Artwel ... "Hold Shift+L ? .... that was not what I meant , yes , that is self-explanatory isn't it ? .... the issue was , while L (lasso) was selected , by holding Alt , it would , (and now it does) change the tool from Lasso to Polygonal .

Thank you both for taking the time to come to my "rescue" .

Re: Lasso/Alt
I never even knew it was possible to change between the two whilst drawing like that, so thanks, you have taught me something useful
