Problem with actions
Hi

Have written an action to merge visible layers and place on top (shft=ctrl-alt-E), then convert to smart filters, go to acr to allow editing, then to unsharp mask, finally save image. (Using PS cc 2014).

I have assigned the F7 key to this action. All worked well for a while, then suddenly it would no longer create step 1 (ie shft-ctrl-alt-E). Not a problem, did this manually. The the F7 key would no longer function after the first image. And now finally, whilst it appears to save the image, it simply looses all acr and usm adjustment and saves it as an unadjusted .tiff file.

Highly annoying, as this is the first action that malfunctions, all my other ones (from F2-F6) are no problem. Any idea what the malfunction is about/could be due to? I have read that PS does not allow you to enter commands such as ctrl-0 in an action (silly, really); but cannot find a solution to this problem.

Re: Problem with actions
Have you tried triggering the Action in button mode, via the Actions panel, rather than using a keyboard shortcut?

And did you write the Action for Photoshop CC 2014, or for an earlier version of the program?

Re: Problem with actions
Hi Steve

Yes, I eventually resorted o using the button mode, although why only this one does not work eludes me. All my previous ones work, written for either CS6 or cc. This one was written about two weeks ago for cc 2014. I have deleted the action, will rewrite and see what happens: knowing software, it will work just fine. Will keep update this thread once done and tested.

Re: Problem with actions
If there's a problem triggering the Action only with the keystroke, then it's most likely there's a conflict with F7. Could it be assigned to a different process already, such as a menu option? Or could the system be hijacking it to change volume or brightness, for instance?

Let us know what happens.

Re: Problem with actions
Have rewritten the action, renamed it F6, and it works (touch wood). Wrote it last night, then retried it this morning, still fine. Will see what F7 originally stood for, AFAIK, only F1 is 'verboten' due to it being assigned the Help function as in Microsoft.

Re: Problem with actions
Grrrr! So F6 also stopped working. Obviously PS cc2014 does not like keyboard shortcuts. No issue as such, just annoying.
