displacement map woes
Hello everbody, I am trying to do the displacement lessons in the book, chapter 12 pages 298-301. My problem is that after I apply the filter to the text layer using the grayscale copy of the brick wall or wood wall, the filter returns a small text box inside the text as a displacement rather than the image as a displacement. I get that with most images I use for displacement. The text says something like this: this layered photoshop file was not copied with (couldn't see clearly enough of the words) something else about composite image. it had the same message in other languages. The box shows up just in the middle of the text leaving the rest of the text basically unchanged. What am I doing wrong??? did i save it wrong or something? I wonder if it has something to do with the profiles...maybe? I hope I have explained well enough what is happening. Thanks Greg |

Re: displacement map woes
Hi greg, Try changing Edit/Preferences/File Handling/Maximise PSD and PSB File Compatability from 'Never' to 'Always', that should do the trick. rufus |

Re: displacement map woes
Well Pierre, I had the same problem a while ago and after much searching I discovered that for the filter to work properly the displacement map had to be flattened. I also knew that the Maximise Compatibility option automatically saved a flattened image with the layers. Putting 2 and 2 together...............
