moving a path
How do you move a finished path to reuse it on another part of the image?

Re: moving a path
Hi Chris,
Select the path you want to move then go to Edit>Transform Path. Selecting one of the options puts a bounding box around the path and you can drag it around.

Cheers
That's a neat trick for transforming, but is there any way of actually moving it to another part of the image?

Re: moving a path
Chris,
Just put the cursor inside the bounding box and drag it around. If you drag on the corner handles it will change the size or rotation or whatever you initially selected. It works exactly the same way as if you wanted to transform a layer and wanted to reposition the layer around whilst resizing/rotating/distorting or skewing it.
You can also use the arrow keys to move it in precise increments.

Re: moving a path
I'm an idiot - it's so bleeding obvious!
I've used paths to create ripples of water in this week's friday challenge and I need to shift the path to create knew ones.

Thanks GKB

Re: moving a path
No problem.
I did the same sort of thing except that I mad only one path. That way you can just create one circle and then copy that layer and transform it. Then you just have to create another layer and Edit>Transform>Transform again or use the keyboard option. Then merge all the layers to get a concentric ring and distort that. You can then blur that to use as a bump map.

All that is assuming, of course, that you actually WANT to create concentric ripples!!

Re: moving a path
Select the path selection tool, click in the path, and drag to move.

Re: moving a path
Dave,
Thanks from me this time. I'd forgotten that one. Nice how Photoshop does things in different ways, isn't it?
