fundamentals
Hello I have a simpleproblem with Selection on page 4 of the book. I get as far as topic 3 and I make the selection of the hubcap but it disappears as soon as I release the mouse. I would really appreciate help. nucheat |

Are you holding Shift, or alt/option when you make the second selection? Sounds to me as if you're adding to a selection that's already there. |

hi Steve thank for replying, yeah I hold the shift key before I(start , then hold alt whilst im drawing the elipse as soon as i release the mouse the elipse goes, and i have tried lift off the alt first and still it disappears! please help its driving me nuts kind regards seyell |

OK, got it - I think. Holding the Shift key before you start tells Photoshop you want to add to the selection. When you're drawing, holding the alt key draws from the centre - but you need to keep this key held down until after you release the mouse button, otherwise Photoshop thinks you don't want to draw from the centre any more. |

which is what ive done withe first two elipses, on the tyre, on page 5, then when i get to the hubcap in nos. 3 the selection doesn't hold, it disappears?

Thanks Steve i think I get it now , are you saying only use the shift key to add back the hubcap?
