graphics tablet stylus replacement
Hi everyone I've not been posting much lately: Our PC got infected with viruses and spyware, causing severe Internet problems and general slow-down. Anyway, with help from another great forum, I'm getting things back to normal (nearly there I think) Another problem I've got is my stylus is broken. I have a Medion tablet and would like to replace only the stylus. The Medion customer services have not been helpful (I think they no longer stock the product) Does anyone know if the stylus from another tablet would work with my Medion? If so, where can I obtain one? Thanks Wayne |

I think it's most unlikely another stylus would work with your tablet. The tablet itself is fairly 'dumb' - it's the stylus that does all the work, not to mention getting its power from an inductive loop (hence no wires). I've just been testing the new Wacom Bamboo, and it's an excellent, low cost device - highly recommended! |

Thanks Steve. I would have put money on it being the other way round! It's not just the money though, I don't really want to throw the tablet out when it's just the stylus that's not working. I have learned since that the Medion is a re-branded Aiptek Hyperpen 12000, and Aiptek do sell the stylus separately. I'm just waiting for them to email me to confirm the pen is compatible with my tablet, if so I'll order one. Thanks again. |

The stylus takes a while to get used to, so I didn't realise how dependent I had become on it until I had to edit photos without it, the other day. |

You're right, Vibeke, certain Photoshop tasks seem more difficult to achieve with the mouse after getting used to the stylus. Thanks Pierre, I might well give Ebay a try, as Aiptek don't seem to be in a rush to answer my enquiry! |

After 2 failures on eBay (victim of auction sniper) I've managed to win one! Complete boxed pen and 4" x 5" tablet for £8 including delivery! Nice one Pierre, it's the first time I've bought anything on eBay.
(mind you, I hadn't realised how frustrating it could be when you don't win!) |

Great! The trick is to setup a maximum amount of money you're willing to spend and "play" it. You have to be online during the last minute. It took me 3 months to get a Spyder2 suite (monitor calibration gizmo), brand new, at less then 100$CDN, including shipping and custom duties! But I would probably not buy fragile stuff as you don't know how it is going to ba packaged... Have fun with your new stylus! _________________ |

Cheers, although I'm not sure I'm cut out for eBay. I think I'll leave it up to the wife in future (she's an addict) |
