CS3 Extended problem
Hi Steve, I have recently installed CS3 Extended which I got mainly for the ability to import 3D objects. I have just built a model in Cinema 4D and have imported it into CS3 so that I can position against another photograph. When it appears on screen I find that various elements of the model are grossly out of position. Any thoughts? |

Re: CS3 Extended problem
This sometimes happens when the files are saved in the wrong format. Check your export settings in Cinema4D - and perhaps try some different formats to see if that helps? |

Re: CS3 Extended problem
Steve, The original file was saved as a .c4d file. This was then exported as a .3ds file for import into CS3. I'll have a look at what other file names can be used for export. |

Re: CS3 Extended problem
Problem partially solved. I called MAXON support and was met with a 'nuffink to do with me, guv' person. Try Adobe. Then I realised that one of the export options is Wavefront which is the OBJ file format (which they don't tell you about). I exported to that and it works perfectly. But it does raise the question as to why, if CS3 supports the 3ds format, the model comes out with various parts displaced in all sorts of directions? Perhaps you might want to ask Adobe on our behalves as you probably carry more clout. |

Oh No! My English teacher has been resurrected in the form of Steve Caplin!!! Sounds like six of the best for me , then. Sorry, no idea where that one came from. Another little problemette. Importing the obj file didn't give me a texture file along with it. |
