Eyedropper selections switched.
Somehow the eyedropper tool selections got switched in my copy of PSCS2 at work. When I click on a color, the background updates, and when I Alt click the foreground updates. Any one know how to switch this behaviour back to foreground/background?

This happened to me recently - no idea how. All fine after I quit and relaunched Photoshop. If anyone knows what happened, let us know!

Hmm, I've shut down and relaunched several times, and even rebooted the PC, and they are still switched.

Dave, you may have to trash the preferences. Hold Ctrl, alt, shift when starting the program, it will ask you if you want to delete the settings file.

Thanks David. I didn't know about that. I'll give it a try Monday.

That fixed it, Thanks David. I still wish I knew how it got that way, but oh, well.

That's great - it is a somewhat heavy-handed approach but it tends to cure a multitude of ills.

I know I'm late to the party on this, but a visitor to the Adobe Photoshop forum asked about this recently, and it's been asked about many times in the past.

Another visitor to that thread pointed toward this forum and this thread.

There's no need to dump ALL of your Photoshop preferences just to return the behavior of the Eyedropper Tool to its default state.

And an FAQ on the subject, with a clear graphic created by me:
