Image Warp control points
I got the current version of this book (CS3) recently and I'm working through it and really enjoying it (and learning too, of course). But I'm slightly confused by the "Introducing Image Warp" tutorial on pages 44-45. The tutorial suggests that each of the grid points in and at the edges of the area under transformation are "control points" for the warp and, further, that moving one of those at the edge is independent of the Bezier controls for the corners. However, I can't see any difference between dragging one of these intersections and clicking and dragging at *any* point within the transform area. Also, dragging the edges of the grid (at the intersection point or elsewhere) *does* move the Bezier controls. In fact, this happens dragging anywhere in the outer eight squares (only dragging the centre square changes none of the perimeter of the transform area). Am I misunderstanding something here? Regards, Mike |

Re: Image Warp control points
Hi Mike, Maybe this will help. Where you click and drag from is where your current control point is. The lines are for reference, but you can in fact click anywhere in the transform area, and drag. Where you click will be the center of your control point. The farther away from your control point, the less affect that the current control point will have. The distance is also affected by the control handles of the nearest control point that has control handles. |

Thanks Dave - what you've said certainly makes sense. |
