Shadow loss
Photoshop seems to be playing tricks. Creating shadows I have always followed the procedure as laid down in Steve’s book. (Chapter7, pages 138/141) and it’s worked fine. Now it just doesn’t work, after duplicating the image and locking, the black overlay will not appear. Strange thing is it won’t work on other computers either. Has anyone else got this particular gremlin? Suggestions welcome

Re: Shadow loss
Hello James,
Have had a play and its working okay for me (have still got CS2). The only way I could make it NOT work was by clicking on lock image pixels, rather than lock transparency. Probably no help to you, but I tried!

Re: Shadow loss
This seems very strange. Can you detail the steps you're taking, and show exactly where it falls over? Perhaps post a screen shot showing your Layers palette?

Re: Shadow loss
Deborah and Steve,
Whenever I complain to my family that something doesn’t work (computer wise) the reply always is, operator error. In this instance that’s correct. Deborah hit the nail on the head, press the right button. How after so much use I could make such a simple error. Well! I feel foolish. Do it right, it does work.
Thank you both for your trouble.

No problem, James - glad you got it sorted out! And we'd always rather you posted a query here than sat at home tearing your hair out.

Re: Shadow loss
Glad you got it sorted, I was trying to do something with a vector shape the other day; it kept on coming out bevelled when I didn't want it to be. Tried about 6 times, gave up, went back to it and I had inadvertantly pressed the wrong button. We all do it!
