Adding depth - guitar Help!
I'm struggling with step 4 on the guitar project. After making a tile, the instruction "fill the new side by clipping it with the side layer and repeating the pattern" is causing problems....

Re: Adding depth - guitar Help!
Hi Becks. What part are you having trouble with?

Is it the part about clipping it with the side layer?

In the book the side is added by creating a shape using the pen tool. The shape is then filled with a color, and placed behind the guitar layer. This way you can see the shape filled in where it shows behind the guitar. To add a pattern made from the front of the guitar, you can use this shape so the new layer only shows where the shape is. You would do this by making a pattern at least large enough to completely cover the new shape. You then put the pattern layer on top of the layer that contains the shape. Hold down the alt key and put your cursor over the line between the two layers. you will see a funny cursor of two little circles and a small arrow. When you see the symbol, click your mouse. Photoshop will ship the thumbnail to the right, and clip the pattern with the layer beneath it. Now your pattern will show only where the shape is, in the underlying layer. See the image below.
