quickmask2
hi, i was trying out page 11 of the book(4th edition) and i hope to get some help.
1) even though i did not lower the brush opacity in step 5 (i switched to dark gray color as instructed), i found that the new stroke still overlaps the old one, and i ended up with a darker area what do i have to do in order to solve the problem?
2) if i used a very light color to paint(in the quick mask mode) and exit the quick mask mode, it doesnt select the colored area at all? 3) how do i insert the new background (step 8 to 9) to the existing file? ps: sorry for posting these as i am still figuring out how to use photoshop thanks!

Re: quickmask2
Hi moonie, I assume that you are attempting to paint the wings as in step 5? When you paint the wings with the dark gray color, you should see a lighter shade of red as you paint with the quick mask mode. If you use a very light color while in quick mask mode, the wings will be very transparent, almost invisible. The selection will be made, but you may not be able to see it. You haven't really gotten to working with layers in the book yet, but here is how you can do it. If you check your layers pallet, you will see the new layer you created in step 7. You can drag the layer to another document, and the fly will appear on top of what ever is in that document. You can also place a layer below your layer in your existing document, which will place the fly in front of your new layer. Try dragging a background from another image to your image, and then drag the layer down below the layer with the fly. |
