Bridge question
Hi all. I've got a problem you Canon people may be able to help with. I've recently made the leap from a compact to a Canon DSLR camera. My old Fuji would display thumbnail images in Bridge without the need to install the software bundled with the camera. All I had to do was plug in the USB cable, double-click on the thumbnail in Bridge and it would open up in Photoshop.

With my new Canon however, using the same method, I only get icons of the images in Bridge. If I double-click on the icon, nothing happens.

I can get round this by dragging the images from My Computer, but does anyone know if I can view them directly in Bridge without installing the Canon software? If I have to install it, fair enough, but I would rather use Bridge.

I'm using CS3. Thanks for any help.

Wayne

Re: Bridge question
You do not need to install the Canon software. Bridge should load them up just fine.

If you are shooting RAW pictures make sure you have the latest ACR plug in. For some reason Canon seems to have more problems in ACR than other formats.

If you have more questions on Bridge go the the Adobe Bridge forum and do some searches regarding see only icons in Bridge.

Re: Bridge question
Thanks for the reply cy. It turns out I was looking at the problem from the wrong end! If I open Bridge and go File > Get Photos From Camera, the images load up as thumbnails and save into a folder on the PC.

I suppose most already use this method. It's just that I'd got used to my old camera loading up the images automatically.

Thanks again.

Re: Bridge question
Good point. I usually put the camera card into a card reader and then plug into USB port. The autoload menu pops up and load images to Bridge is an option. A card reader is preferable to reading from camera, from posts it seems to be more reliable.
