Graphics cards for CS4
I really need to upgrade my graphics card for CS4, plus I have decided to drive myself mad, having a go at 3D. Any suggestions for best value for money. Great performance and little cost. _________________ Perfect confidence is granted to the less talented as a consolation prize. |

Do you read the Adobe PhotoShop users forum? If so you will see there are still mass problems with OpenGL and video cards/drivers. The Adobe site has recommended cards that work with CS4, but the posts indicate even if you get the recommended card it many not work perfectly on your computer, but at least a good place to start. I am sticking with CS3 for now. |

Nvidia 8800GT here and it works fantastically well. Very reasonably priced aswell. Do you have a Mac or a PC Vibeke? |

Thanks, now that I have some idea I shall start looking at prices. We tend to pay more for things here. I'm on PC. _________________ Perfect confidence is granted to the less talented as a consolation prize. |

Re: Graphics cards for CS4
Also forgot to ask how old your PC is? Reason i am asking is that older machines have an AGP slot on the motherboard and the newer machines have a PCI express slot for graphics cards. If its the older AGP type you won't be able to get a 8800GT Card because they only fit PCI express Mobo's. You can get them on the net for well under £100 now and it will run PS CS4 perfectly. Hope this helps Wayne |

Re: Graphics cards for CS4
Hi Vibeke, Looking at that you have a 16x pci express slot which will allow you to fit the Nvidia 8800GT, I also notice that it is a desktop system (by that i mean it is a base unit that sits under your monitor rather than a tower which sits at the side of your desk) The reason i am mentioning this is that desktop systems tend to have micro ATX motherboards rather than the full size ATX motherboards found in tower systems. Just be careful that when you have selected a card to purchase that you make sure it will fit inside the case. Alot of these new cards are pretty large so it would be wise to ask the retailer whether it will fit a micro ATX system. Dont hesitate to ask if you have any doubts. Never straight forward with PC's is it

Thanks, I'll look into it. I'd hate to get a card and then find it doesn't fit. _________________ Perfect confidence is granted to the less talented as a consolation prize. |
