CS4 and Panasonic raw files
I recently purchased a Panasonic Lumix LX3. One of the reasons for my choice was the RAW files it generates. But... the software that comes with it, Silkypix, is not user friendly and in spite of having this software installed, my PC does not recoginise the file type which is a real pain. Finally, my question. Does CS4 recognise Panasonic's .RW2 files? I currently cannot open these files in CS3. |

Here is link to adobe camera raw v. 5.2 with cameras supported. The DMC_LX3 looks like it is supported but not finalized yet, but believe 5.3 is out now so you should be OK. Check out list as not 100% sure that is the same as Lumix LX3. http://kb2.adobe.com/cps/407/kb407616.html |

Many thanks for your help cy98. I am hoping to be able to purchase CS4 sometime in August. It looks as if the Lumix files will work in that version. |

Re: CS4 and Panasonic raw files
Sophie CS4 puts a lot of demand on the video card to make it run well, especially with openGL enabled. So before you purchase, check to see if your computer will handle it. Can always download a trial version as a final test. I still am running CS3. |

I always convert my raw to DNG. Abode has a free converter. Cy98, you are so right about CS4 being greedy. I love the program, even bought a new graphics card with 1GB of RAM and even so I'm frequently told I'm out of RAM. got to the stage when I turned openGL off, which was the main reason I bought the card. _________________ Perfect confidence is granted to the less talented as a consolation prize. |

Good point about the DNG converter. You can then view RAW in CS3. Still have to wait for a converter to work with specific model of camera, but looks like they are there with the LX3. |
