Hand Bill & Flyers
Am just about 7 months into photoshop, and I have a website which I want to design hand bill & flyers to advertise my website which am selling products ranging from electronics to men and womens items.
But on reading Art & Design in Photoshop which I just bought from Amazon 2 days ago, I realised and learned that to capture readers attention, I need to design my flyers & hand bills to relate to what am selling.
So this where I need a help, or rather guideline on how to design this.
I need your help here please.

Thanks, what I was thinking was the fonts to use and guides on what are really catchy and attractive to make readers take the site serious.

Thanks once again

Not an expert on this, but would think it depends on the audience. To appeal to 20 somethings would be different than seniors.

Don't think there is any clear winners. That is why the are ad agencies.

It you come up with a design, most here are willing to offer suggestions if you are not overly sensitive about your work.

From nothing, comes nothing and everything. Just be creative. We do that.

James,

The most important thing is to ensure that your advertising material is easy to understand instantly! So therefore your fonts and artwork do not want to be too clever.
The first thing you need to do is to decide upon your Marketing Objective. SPECIFICALLY, what do you want to achieve from the leaflets. The word 'specifically' is very important. You can't just say " I want to attract more business to my site!" What do you mean by MORE? How many, name numbers, be specific what do you expect? Do you expect enquiries, Sales, site hits? Do you want the leaflets to tell people what you do? Or to go and visit your site? What?

Once you have decided upon the specific objective for the leaflet, the next stage is to think about the message you want to convey.

I'm sure that by now you are beginning to realise that the decision on the type of font you will use is a long way off.
Moreover, once you know exactly what it is you want to say in the leaflet, it will then become a lot easier to decide upon the 'Look' you want for the leaflet, which will include the overall impact and colour, typefaces etc.

There was a discussion on a similar subject earlier on the forum which may help here: http://www.howtocheatinphotoshop.com/cgi-bin/simpleforum_pro.cgi?fid=04&topic_id=1257370025

Finally, don't try to 'kill too many bird with one stone'! The message needs to be clear, concise, exciting and create some sort of desire in the reader to come and see what you have.
Hope this will help

Re: Hand Bill & Flyers
Hi James
Very nice. A couple of comments.

The web address, although important should not be the header, this is not going to grab anyone's attention, after all it is just ANOTHER web address. The reader is not going to see any benefit to them in that and is just as likely to move on, without reading further or visiting the site. 247HotStuff is not going to entice me to visit the site. However, on your site you say something like:

"We will give you what you want when you want it, at the CHEAPEST prices".

This is an important message and has more chance of grabbing the attention, especially the CHEAPEST PRICES!!!

Think about swapping the position of the web address with a message similar to or even the same as that, with CHEAPEST PRICES in a nice flashy eye catching typeface, that will STOP the reader, and then encourage them to read more, tell them to go to the site NOW!! AT WWW.247HOTSTUFF.COM (if they want to take advantage of these wonderful offers that available to them)!! Or whatever.

Something to think about.
Next think about changing the message on a regular basis to ensure the reader doesn't get 'Blind' and see it but not read it!

Hope this helps

regards
