| Nick Curtain Model Master Posts: 1768 Reply | Re: quick mask Check the following The brush mode is set to normal and the airbrush is disabled. The opacity of the brush and flow of the airbrush should be set to 100%. You are painting using pure black / white. Hit D on the keyboard to reset the defaults and toggle between black and white by pressing X. If you click on the QM icon just below the foreground and background colours, you can set the percentage opacity and colour of the mask. An opacity of less than 100% will not affect the transparency of the final result, it merely allows you to see what you're doing. However, painting with a shade of grey will. Your screengrab looks like all is ok, but it's very difficult to see detail clearly. Nick |

To check your current brush is set correctly, paint with it on a blank white background layer. The result should be 100% black stroke for the legs. In your brush window it does not look like it is, but that might just be the resolution with the capture here. Trevor |

I started thinking that perhaps I needed to push harder on my pen so I tried that it did not change anything at that moment however determined to move forward in the book even if I could not at the moment find an answer to this issue I kept going. At any rate to make a long story short it simply with no change to settings stopped doing the semi transparent masking. If I had not worked with computers most of my life I would still be scratching my head however I have learned long ago tha these little "logical" boxes and appendages often do quite unlogical things. Thanks to everyone for you help it was driving me nuts and I learned quite abit looking at all the reasons this could have been happening. Cathie |

I was thinking something about your tablet, but would have taken us a long time to focus on that I think. How are you getting through the book now? I find good experience to learn with others. Like, many, we pick-and-dip. Keep in touch, Steve is a great guy and you can have HTCPS friends here. Great to see contributions to the forum.
