Problems with the Quick Mask
Tonight I am using Quick Mask for the first time. I am selecting a pair of glasses to be put on another image. Using PS and item is selected, Press cnt J to make a layer of the selection, go to the move tool and it will not allow me to make the move. Seems that the entire Quick mask wants to move. The receiving image shuts down and can be revived by pressing ctrl_z-alt, three times. I feel sure that this is simply something I am doing incorrectly but need to get this project behind me and would appreciate any advice. I do own a couple of your books: Third Edition and CS3. Thanks, Charles Methvin. And if you think George was bad, just wait a few months and we will see what bad really is. |

Problems with the Quick Mask
Good Morning Charles, It sounds like you may be hitting Ctrl-J while you are still in Quick Mask. When you have made your selection in Quick Mask you should hit 'Q' to come back out of Quick Mask. This will give you the 'marching ants' of a normal selection. Now hit Ctrl-J and this will copy the selection to a new layer and you should be able to move it around with the move tool. Depending on how you have the Quick Mask selected you might find that you have to invert the selection to copy the correct part of the image. Do this by either going to Image>Adjustments>Invert or, much quicker, Ctrl-I. Hope all this is clear. Gordon _________________ Why isn't 'phonetic' spelled the way it sounds? |
