Photoshop won't recognise a jpeg!!!
I've tried renaming it, using the Save As feature, and even used the earlier CS3, so in the end I had to use a screen-grabber such as RapidShot to get a hi-res copy of the "Supergirl" image into CS4.

Here are the images: the first is the actual Supergirl.jpg, and the other two are the error messages that I get if I attempt to load the image up.

If anyone wants to download this image and try for themselves and see how they get on they're most welcome.

Fixed it too.

I opened in Windows Picture and Fax viewer and then saved to a new file. That new jpg file opened fine in PS like Steve.

I got the same error messages so I copied the image and then pasted into a new file and that worked ok.

In Windows Pista we only have Photo viewer which does not allow us (me!) to SAVE, but only to COPY

Gordon can you be more specific: what file? and where was this file?

Nero's Photosnap viewer allowed me to save and thus get in to CS4.

Michael,
I copied the image you posted by (MAC) Ctrl-Click then select copy or (PC) Right click then copy. Open a new Photoshop file and accept the default file size. Photoshop will open a new file to the exact pixel dimensions of the image stored in memory then paste into that file. It will be pasted as a new layer. Just flatten and save as.
Gordon

Don't understand why not, Michael. It's a standard way of doing this sort of thing and should work with just about any image.
