Non appearance of icons in Arrange dialogue icon
This is a problem faced by all. When some filters are added to the folder, the Arrange dialogue icon gets disturbed and one has to remove the filter to solve this. I have now started loading the filters in an independent location. I have created a folder called Third party plugs in the main Bin folder and entered it in the Photoshop Plug In preference. Would request the Administrator to let me know whether this step of keeping the filter away from the main photoshop folder will be a permanent solution to this vexing problem as I would like to add more filters for special functions. |

Re: Non appearance of icons in Arrange dialogue icon
I keep my plug-ins in a separate folder as well, so that when I upgrade Photoshop I don't have to reinstall them all. It doesn't cause any problems for me. I haven't come across the Arrange dialog problem, though. If you find out which filter is causing the problem, it's worth letting the developer know. |

Re: Non appearance of icons in Arrange dialogue icon
Respected Administrator, I loaded trial version of Nik Vivezia in a folder well away from photoshop, i.e. C/Bin/Thirdparty plug ins. When I opened Photoshop, I found to my horror, the icons in Arrange dialogue disappeared and I had to move the cursor in empty space to detect various options of viewing multiple images in the same window. I removed the programme and the icons appeared. I sent to Nik software about this. They sent a routine reply and never responded. Can you suggest any way out. Rangan D P |

Some of the NIK filters can have conflicts with PS. You did not say if you were using 32 or 64 bit version. If 64 bit make sure the NIK filter is not 32 bit only. |

Got a reply from Nik people. They had admitted to the problem and state they are trying to overcome it. They suggested a temporary solution. Evertime photoshop is opened go to help menu - plug ins and click on nik software to make arrange logo appear. If it is in File > Automate, go to the software and click on it to make arrange dialogue active. Have not loaded the Nik filter again as they say this operation is to be done everytime photoshop is opened. |

Re: Non appearance of icons in Arrange dialogue icon
Hello, A really dumb computer question. How do I set up a new folder for plug-ins that photoshop will recognise? And can I then transfer existing plugsins to it. I'm thinking of buying an upgrade to Sitegrinder, and I will be upgrading to the new photoshop when it comes out. Also, will I'm asking stupid questions, how do I transfer gradients, and brushes that I've made from one version of photoshop to another. Sorry this is so basic, but its something I've never sorted out! |

Deborah, I could give my suggestions how you might do it, but I think others here can give smoother, safer and verified solutions. (Small point, maybe you should just clarify if for Mac or Windows) So quiet, Trevor |

Re: Non appearance of icons in Arrange dialogue icon
Deborah, You can place plug-ins anywhere you like. In the Photoshop Preferences dialog, there's a section called Plug-ins. Here you can specify the path to the any folder where they're installed. I've always stored my plug-ins in a separate folder. That way I can refer to them from any version of Photoshop (I tend to run several for support purposes), and I can locate them easily. I also use this folder to store my sets of brushes, actions, tool presets and so on. |

Thanks Steve, Have just had a play on my old laptop, which has several versions of photoshop and have managed to transfer the brushes. What it must be like to be computer conversant! Trevor, very quiet for you, and thanks. |
