Converting an MS Word doc to PDF
This question has very little to do with Photoshop! Forgive! However, it has to do with Adobe and is an important part of my work so if someone can enlighten me I would be extremely grateful. Part of my job involves rewriting IT manuals. I have been converting these into PDFs using an add-in which seemed to be installed (I didn't knowingly do anything) in all my Microsoft applications. But... having worked for a couple of years seemlessly, it all went pear-shaped recently and the add-in no longer appears within these applications to select. I have tried uninstalling and re-installing the CS3 Design Premium. I tried using Save As... and after selecting PDF, am told that I need to have at least one other Adobe CS3 programme open for it to work! I have CS3 Design Suite installed on my new PC but no add-ins appearing in MS Office suites? Do I need to download a programme from the internet to convert files? Any help greatly appreciated. |

Sophie, confirming you are saving a Word document as PDF. Small step to solving your problem.. I just checked I can still save as PDF from Word XP. Trevor |

Re: Converting an MS Word doc to PDF
Are you trying to output the PDF from Word, or from InDesign? Because, frankly, InDesign is by far the better choice... |

I have been modifying the Word document manuals from within MS Word and converting them to PDF using an add-in acrobat addin. Never thought to open them in Indesign. |

I have been using a program similat to Steves, PDF995, you can try the free version here. http://www.pdf995.com/ only about $10.00 to pay for it. _________________ Perfect confidence is granted to the less talented as a consolation prize. |

Re: Converting an MS Word doc to PDF
Hi Sophie
In Open Office there's a button that converts any open document to PDF in one click, if you're looking for alternatives to the Office Suite, and Open Office is free to download. It's also compatible with all of Microsoft's main extensions, .doc etc. |
