Chap 4 French Art House from Art & Design in PS
Hi I'm stuck on step 4 on pg 91 from the Art & Design in PS book. I took the image of the girl, desaturated it, then adjusted the brightness/contrast and got the desired black and white effect. But when I try to add blue using Color Balance nothing happens. Please help! |

If you used Brightness/Contrast to such an extent that the girl came out black and white, then adding blue using Color Balance will, indeed, have no effect. That's because adding blue to black still leaves black. Two possibilities: 1. Reduce the contrast, so the girl is grey rather than black, and Color Balance will work fine. 2. Use Hue/Saturation instead, checking the Colorize button. You'll then be able to raise the Lightness to any level you want. |

The tilde depends on whether you're using a Mac or a PC... I'm guessing PC. It's a system-wide thing, and I have absolutely no idea how to get this character in Windows! |

Teyaz, If you have UK keyboard or similar, hold Alt Gr key and then type E. This gives "é" . Well it does for me..... Of course if you have French or other EU and other keyboards much quicker I guess Oh and welcome to HTCIP  !
Trevor PS as others say, its nice to share where we are in the world. We can do on profiles' as and when wish. |

if you are using windows and want to insert characters not on the keyboard you can use the Character Map utility. Navigate to Start>All Programs>Accessories>System tools>Character Map. You can select the character you want to insert then click copy. Now you can paste it to any application including Photoshop. _________________ Brain Blast!!!! |
