Re: help please
Sorry, are you using Photoshop? Can you give us a image, i.e screen save? Or where did the image come from? |

Re: help please
Thanks for the quick reply Jota120 , I'm using photoshop cs5 .As i said i am completely new to all this and basically bought the book so i could learn how to mess around with my photos etc . My wife needed some flyer designs which mainly consisted of text. I managed to cut out her logo and put it on . Then i put an image up . She then just wanted text with offers etc on there. I select my text type and size and type whats needed but the text appears jaggy and not smooth , i just want normal looking text . Is this possible or do i have to purchase something like Indesign? (which obviously i won't as its only some flyers for my wife). Any help would be great ...... thanks in advance |

Re: help please
Hi grumpymchaggis, I assume that your font is in good condition because sometimes a "broken" font can give you problems. The most obvious to me is that you're not using a correct aliasing for your text. Let's see, when you use the text tool, next to the options for size, font family, etc, you also have an option for the aliasing mode. Here you can choose between 4 modes, but the most significant for us, in this case, are "none" and "sharp". If your mode is set to "none", the borders of the font, especially in the rounded edges, will look jagged, or pixelated. If you set this option to "sharp" for instance, the font will look better at the rounded areas especially in fonts with serif. I've made a screen capture to show you this. The version of the software is in spanish but the menus are at the same place than in english version. Hope this could help. ![]() _________________ There are men who struggle for a day and they are good. There are men who struggle for a year and they are better. Re: help please
Is the text "jagged" on screen or in print? |

Re: help please
Hi I suspect that the file resolution may be the issue here. Create a file the same size or larger than the flyer at 300 ppi and see what happens. I'd be interested to see your image and know what file dimension and resolution you are using. The screen shot below is a 12X8 inch file at 300ppi with Times New Roman font at 300pt. The text looks smooth when zoomed in, but the monitor resolution can make the letters look jagged when zoomed out. This will not be reflected in print though. Nick ![]() |

Re: help please
Thanks for all the advice guys . I shall try these out later on and let you know how i got on . Sounds like the problem is the file resolution . As i said i am only a novice playing around and am not in anyway pc savvy . All i done previously was set a file at A4 size and added some text on to the screen . The text was already jagged on screen before i printed . Got stuff on this morning but will get stuck into it tonight ......Thanks again |
