Paste into PS CS5
My brain has gone dead for a moment can somebody help please. I would like to paste the spire and sky into the picture. I have brought it in as a separate layer and need to paste it behind the main image. I also need to extend the sky in both directions to fill the void. Any suggestions would be greatly received. ![]() |

That's no too difficult. Which version of PS are you working with? Looks like Salisbury to me, which I know well, apart from you have changed some, viz a lot of things |

Re: Paste into PS CS5
Hi Paul. I assume you made a selection of the sky area and then used 'paste into' to pull in the steeple/sky image. At this point you have a new layer of the image and a mask of the sky area. Now to make it fit, select the image and use transform to stretch it to fit as desired. Since 'paste into' automatically unlinks the image and mask, transforming only the effects the image, leaving the mask alone. _________________ Lonnie |

Re: Paste into PS CS5
Lonnie's advice is perfect. But I have to say in CS5, there is Content Aware Fill. Works very well, but still need to mess around. I'm sorry PS guys, but mostly I'd take same direction as Lonnie, or both ![]() So how do you know Salisbury [sorry I can be direct sometimes]? You can Personal Message me. Of course you live near there ![]() |

Re: Paste into PS CS5
Following on from Lonnie's post, the question is whether you want to retain the size of the spire. If you transform the pasted section, then the spire will grow as well. I would be inclined to choose a sky with rather more punch and isolate the spire, then use this as a third layer above the new sky. Also, the image looks HDR and the spire is not in the same style. It is questionable whether the spire is necessary, as the sky forms only a very small portion of the image. If you want to work with what you have, then make a selection of sky on one side of the spire and transform it to fill the missing section and then repeat the process on the other side. Nick |

Hi guys. Sure all you know about the new photoshop CS5 content aware scale option. If you choose this in the "edit" menu while selected the spiro layer, probably will make the job. The spiro will remain intact while the sky expands side to side. ![]() _________________ There are men who struggle for a day and they are good. Re: Paste into PS CS5
Many thanks to you and I'll work it out using 'paste into' and explore the content aware in CS5. I don't venture here as often as I should but I must say you are all very helpful and friendly - unlike some, so thanks again! Nick, yes it's an HDR and the spire though correct (just about) was shot the other side of the gate. The morning was exceptionally grey and misty and the spire is not an HDR. The replacement sky is a problem to me as I would like to use something a bit more punchy but it has to be realistic. the original HDR sky to too much as ever. Do shoot skies for my library but never seem to have the right one. |
