bleeds
Hi guys , i asked a question on here a bit back and got a swift usefull reply so hopefully you can help me again . I designed a flyer for my wife for her work , as i am new to this i didnt forsee the future problems. Her head office want me to email it to them and then they are going to have it printed. The problem i have is that now i realise i have to set bleed lines and send it in PDF. I'm stuck . Do i have to start from scratch again or can i add bleed lines to my exsisting file ? I'm not pretending to know how to set them but if it can be done with the exsisting file , i'd appreciate knowing how. I presume once this is done i can then save as PDF and email out or do i have to do settings for the PDF ? Thanks in advance |

Re: bleeds
I'm not sure you can do it via photoshop without adding them manually. Illustrator would be your best bet, you can get a free trial. _________________ I've fallen and I can't get up. |

Re: bleeds
There's no reason why you shouldn't add crop marks in Photoshop. This is the procedure I'd recommend: 1. Make a new layer, and fill it with white. 2. Increase your canvas size by 5mm all round. 3. You'll now see the white rectangle made in step 1 surrounded by empty space. This layer marks the crop size of your image. 4. Draw tick marks that almost (but not quite) touch the top right corner of the white rectangle, in black. 5. Duplicate this layer, flip horizontally, and merge it into the original. Now you'll have tick marks top left and top right. 6. Duplicate the layer again, and this time flip vertically. Now you'll have tick marks at the bottom as well. 7. Change the mode of this layer to Multiply, and the white rectangle will disappear. Of course, you'll now have to extend the background of your original picture... but that's your problem! |

I'll have to make a note of that one, i knew there was a way to do it manually just wasn't sure how. Another useful tip for the future. _________________ I've fallen and I can't get up. |

Re: bleeds
There was another question about crop marks today, so I wrote a quick Action to do it. You'll find it here. |
