Very basic question!
Working on another person's mac computer with a CS2 version of PS the default background is the desktop image - I am used to working with a plain grey background and find the desktop background very irritating - how do I replace it with a plain one? _________________ I'm not really bad - I just draw that way |

Re: Very basic question!
Hi Josephine, If you click on the 'apple' symbol at top left of the screen then select System Preferences>Desktop & Screensaver>Desktop>Apple Images then you should get a series of bland images which ought to fill the bill. If you don't like any of them then just create an image of your own with a grey background and save it somewhere. Then follow the steps above to load that image as your new desktop image. Hope you get it sorted. Gordon _________________ You're never too old to learn something stupid. |

No, - I am sorry I am not explaining this very well - I understand how to make a desktop screensaver image - what I want is how to get the plain grey screen that normally appears when you open up PS which replaced the desktop image _________________ I'm not really bad - I just draw that way |

Re: Very basic question!
Aaah I think I see what you mean. If you press 'F' once you will get a grey background. If you press it again you get a black background. Hitting it again takes you back to the default display. If you hit the 'Tab' key you can hide the tool box. Do I get my prize now? _________________ You're never too old to learn something stupid. |

Re: Very basic question!
Go to the Window menu in Photoshop, and choose Application Frame. |

Re: Very basic question!
Really? Which version of Photoshop are you using? It might be a CS thing. |

Re: Very basic question!
You can still hit the "F" key though. You just cannot seem to be able to set it as the default ![]() _________________ You're never too old to learn something stupid. |

Re: Very basic question!
Do you have to hold any other keys down or is it just the F key? _________________ I'm not really bad - I just draw that way |

Re: Very basic question!
As long as you have an image open you just hit the F key and it will cycle through the three options. You should find that the first option with the grey screen is exactly what you were describing except that it does not default to that on opening up Photoshop. _________________ You do not need a parachute to skydive.
