Creating Circles
Is there a way to create a circle of a specific size in Photoshop CS5? What I’m trying to do is create a CD template with an outer diameter of 118mm and inner diameter of 26mm. Thanks Jessie |

Re: Creating Circles
Hi Jessie Creat a new document 118mm x 118mm and press Cmd or Ctrl R to bring up the rulers. If you prefer you can make the document slightly larger and just follow the cursor guide out to the 118mm point. Best to keep the length of the side to an even number. Enable View>Snap and then drag both horizontal and vertical guides from the rulers to the mid-points of the document. The guides should snap to the centre point. Select the Elipse tool and position the cursor at the point where the ruler guides cross. Hold down both Shift and Alt keys and drag out from the centre until the cursor reaches a corner. You will now have a perfect circle of 118mm diameter with its centre at the centre of the document. Now drag ruler guides to a point 72mm (half of 118 plus half of 26) above and also to the side of the centre point. Hope you understand that bit. Go back to the ellipse tool and, starting at the centre again, and on a new Path Layer, drag out another circle to the point where the new guides cross. You can put both Paths on the same layer but I prefer to keep different Paths on different Path layers. Hope this works OK for you.
